It's a great time for sports right now. Not just nationally, but for me personally. The NCAA Final Four is wrapping up and Major League Baseball is about to start, and hell...even Wrestlemania happens later tonight.
But it may be even better for me personally.
A couple of weeks ago I went to my first NCAA Basketball Tournament game ever. I've always wanted to go to the Big Dance in some capacity, so it was a big deal for me, and since I believe the first two days of the tournament are the two best days of the year in sports, I was honored to be able to attend a game on the first day.
The game pitted the Utah Utes vs. the UTEP Miners and it took place here in Tucson at the McKale center on the campus of University of Arizona, where the Arizona Wildcats play their home games. I had great seats and the game was thrilling. The atmosphere was very electric, and since I was finally experiencing a lifelong dream, it was a very surreal couple of hours for me. I wished I had been able to see all the games in person that day. It was a very memorable experience for me, and I was a little sad when it came to an end, although I had a great time watching the rest of the games that day from the comfort of my sofa. I would highly recommend it to any fan of college hoops. In fact it should be required for those of you who are.
I also got to see one of the NBA's future stars, which was an added bonus. Andrew Bogut of Utah was one of the most impressive athletes I've ever seen play in person, and I felt very lucky to be able to see him up close that day. He has the opportunity to be a great pro player. Keep an eye on him.
On Monday April 4th, I will be attending my first MLB Opening Day game. It should be a great time as the Chicago Cubs take on the Arizona Diamondbacks at the Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix, or as the lazy, and/or redneck people refer to it, "the B.O.B." I'm going to yell something about steroids whenever Craig Counsell comes to the plate. Not to be ironic. Just because I hate Craig Counsell's tiny little guts.
Anyway, I appreciate you reading this entry. Thanks for being a good sport.
That was supposed to be cheesy you cynic.
