2002-08-05 | I LOVE STEVEN WRIGHT
It makes sense, because his last name is "Astin", but it never hit me that Sean Astin (Rudy) was the son of John Astin (if i'm not mistaken, Gomez Addams??) and Patty Duke. I don't know why, but I loved the movie Half Baked when it came out, and I still like it. Here's one of my favorite parts of the movie. They have just finished taking hits from "Billy-Bong Thornton", and now, obviously, have the munchies. Apparently it is Harland Williams night to purchase them. After a big, pot-head round of laughter, and right before he leaves the house, he says quietly "If I'm not back in ten minutes......call the Police", and they bust out into laughter again, and Harland Williams disappears out of the door. After the laughter stops David Chapelle says: "Shit...If he aint back in ten minutes, we callin' Dominoes"] I was watching the first half of the motion picture M*A*S*H* the other night. I hadn't seen the opening credits in awhile, and I forgot that the theme song in the movie has lyrics, and that it's kind of controversial, especially for those times. The song is called "Suicide is Painless". That movie is so different then the show at certain parts. I love both the tv show and the movie. How can Robert Duvall be "Frank Burns"!!??!! That's so weird. Donald Sutherland as Hawkeye. Interesting. Alan Alda IS Hawkeye as far as I'm concerned. He just defined that character. Sutherland does a fine job in the movie, though. It's just a different character at certain times, to me. I think Radar is the only character to be played by the same actor in the tv show and movie. Poor Radar. Tom Skerrit was cool when he was young. Before Top Gun and the Poltergeist movies. He looked cool before he had the "Tom Selleck Moustache"! Ha ha ha ha!! You can't stop me. But he looked so slick without the facial hair. Tom Skeritt and Stacy Keach will always be cool, even though thier work has bored me for the last ten to fifteen years. The reason they will always be cool, of course, is because they were in "Up In Smoke". That new NBC show "Meet the Folks" is pretty good. It's worth watching because at the very end, the final 2 guys have to take a lie detector test. I love the reactions of the guy who does the tests. The guy who sets up and runs the machine and all that. The reactions of the overbearing fathers are very amusing as well.
