It's amazing how even the most horrible song, or a surprisingly good song from a usually awful band can give you so much. It doesn't matter that I had deplorable taste in music when I was younger, because I have fond memories locked up inside a lot of those cheesy 80's hits. It doesn't matter that Puddle of Mudd is one of the most unoriginal bands on radio today, because even though their latest hit is a blatant (and obviously monumentally unsuccessfull) attempt at being Nirvana, their most earnest single, "Blurry", will always have a special place in my heart. When I hear that song I wonder why all their songs can't be better, and more sincere. That song sounds like their song, because it comes from the heart. "An ocean's in between is, but that's not very far", while not the most mind-blowingly creative line of all time, will always remind me of being in Hawaii and wanting to be with Stephanie in Arizona. If only someone like me was able to be a mentor to that band instead of someone like Fred Durst, they wouldn't be such a joke. But I thank them for giving me something to believe in, and something to hold on to, and something to remember forever. Peace out.
