2003-07-14 | WARP SPEED DOWNWARD
Well the continuing saga of the will I go to the Warped Tour or not dilemma has now come to an end. I'm not going. In a way it's good for me not to go, because it's saving me 70 dollars, which I could use for the next couple weeks. Or days at least. But it would've been so good for me to be out there with all that music, and I was hoping to run into a couple of musicians and tell them about the book I'm trying to put together. I was looking forward to getting free stickers from Epitaph. I was really looking forward to seeing "Sluggles". There will be other concerts. There will be other Warped Tours. But I doubt there will ever be another warped tour with Atmosphere on the bill. But hey, by next Warped Tour things may be better for me. I may have a book published. Or I may have my own band. Or both. Who knows. Now the question remains....do I go to Lollapalooza??? Hmmmm. It's not as perplexing as the Warped Tour thingy. I like the Warped Tour, because even though a majority of the fans are really annoying, the band members seem more free at that event. They walk around the crowd and mingle, and stuff like that. Now I guess I could see who's coming to town here, and go to one of those shows as a sort of substitute concert. The main reason we're not going is because my girlfriend thinks it will be too hot, which it probably will be, but I was willing to sacrifice my comfort. It doesn't really matter in the grand scheme. It was just something different that was going on in my life, other than the normal everyday boring shit. It was an event. I'm pretty sure I would've had a good time, but she's right, I would've been hot as hell. I could drive myself there, but I don't really feel like driving 2 hours to a town I've never been to, by myself, and standing in the 115 + degree heat, by myself. And I don't know how good of a time she would've had anyway, so maybe it's a good thing that I'm not going. I'll just keep telling myself that. Bands I've never seen that I still will not have seen come Tuesday, the day of the show: Atmosphere Vendetta Red Andrew W.K. Glassjaw S.T.U.N. There are also a few bands that I've already seen live that I would've loved to have seen again, but hey, you can't win 'em all.
I have a good entry coming up soon. I think. Stay Tuned.
