2003-01-27 | EMERIL LAVIGNE
Well, my cooking didn't come out as good as Emeril....but at least it was more enjoyable then Avril. And the game sucked. And Stephanie got some sort of mysterious eye infection. She's ok, though. I think. I hope. But I made some pretty decent food, and I think she liked it ok, too. I got up at 7 in the morning and placed my pre-seasoned pork butt in the oven for pulled pork sandwiches. I slept about 20 minutes past the time that I was supposed to take it out, but it was still okay. It would've been better if we ate it right then and there, but Stephanie had to go to the doctor, and I had to cook some more "grinds", as they call it in Hawaii. Next, I got a big mixing bowl, and put some ground beef and ground veal in there along with some onions and garlic, and a faux-"essence" seasoning that I tried to steal from Emeril. (I didn't have all the ingredients, so I made do with what I had.) I threw an egg in there and started forming some meatballs. Last week on Emeril Live! he made meatballs similar to this, and he was putting WHOLE CLOVES of garlic in the meatballs. I thought to myself "I've gotta try this", and come Sunday, I did. I stuffed entire cloves of garlic into each meatball, and started cooking them. They came out good, but the garlic was a little much. I think next time I'll just put lots of chopped garlic in the meat, and forget the cloves. It tasted a lot better later on when I ate them in a hoagie. Next I made some sauteed mushrooms and threw them all over the finished meatballs. Then I made 8 hot dogs, and a turkey kielbasa sausage. I put four of the hot dogs in some pork and beans with bacon, and onions, and made a great (if I may say so myself) bean concoction. I served it with some store bought potato salad and Poore Bros. BBQ potato chips. I hadn't eaten all day, because I was cooking, so I was starving. But I guess not eating all day made my stomach shrink, and I didn't eat that much at all. That meant I would have room for leftovers for dinner! I think I might've actually enjoyed the leftovers more. I took like 3 naps yesterday, too. I kept waking up with a messed up neck. So of course I said to my body "let's combat this pain by falling back asleep in this obviously uncomfortable position, one more time!" It was a nice day, though. I wish her eye wasn't fucked up. It would've been better. And I wish the not so-Super Bowl, was better. But it was another great first. First time I had someone fun to watch the game with (even though she slept through most of it), and I finally had someone to cook for. On a completely different note, if you don't really like current R & B music (which I, myself completely despise), but you like owning quintessential albums from different genres, then I recommend the first album by Musiq Soulchild Aijuswanaseing (Def Soul, 2000), which is actually more like a classic soul album then a lame 90's r&b album. His second album is pretty good, too, but not as good as the first. And I think he's going by just plain "Musiq" now. And on another completely different note, here's some recent cameos I've cought on le tube: Lawrence Tierney on Seinfeld Bob Costas, Lynn Swann and Kenny Mayne on Drew Carey D.L. Hughley and Dick Van Dyke on Scrubs, which is one of my favorite television shows of all time, and I can't believe wasn't nominated for anything at the Golden Globe Awards. They're supposed to be the ones that recognize stuff that the more mainstream award shows miss, but the Emmy's actually nominated them, while the Globes missed the boat. Larry Miller on Seinfeld Christa Miller, who played Kate on Drew Carey, and plays Perry Cox's ex-wife on Scrubs (apparently she's married to the creator of Scrubs, also) appeared on Seinfeld Triple H on Drew Carey Lou Ferrigno on King of Queens Jeneane Garafalo on Seinfeld (and also the guy that played the boss on News Radio) Keith Hernandez & Roger McDowell on Seinfeld Luckily, for you, that's all I have for now. Thanks for reading. Peace.
