2002-11-19 | THE BIRTHDAY, PARTLY

Savion Glovers birthday is today, too.

What a crazy 27th birthday it was. Woo-hoo!!

I'll probably have as much fun in these final eleven minutes as I've had all day.

One great thing about my birthday, no matter how lame it is that specific year, is that Nirvana performed their Unplugged concert on this day back in 1993. I just think that's a great thing. It makes me feel even more connected to them.

I know it's stupid, but I've always felt like a friend of the band, whether they know it/me or not.

I know that them doing Unplugged on this date had nothing to do with me, but it's just cool that it ended up being on my birthday. They could've done it any other day of the year, or any other day in November. And it was also the year I graduated from high school. Just when I was starting to turn into the person I like now. Before that year I wasn't really sure who I was, or what I liked, or what kind of people I should be around, and in some ways maybe I'm still confused. But I'm much prouder of myself now then I was before '93. I was actually really good right after graduation, really fresh and motivated...a new man.

I had finally found real, good music, and i was going to all the great concerts, and meeting amazing people, and seeing things that I didn't even know existed prior to my "awakening".

My life didn't suck or anything before then, but it was just boring. I was listening to bad music, hanging around with selfish people.

I still haven't accomplished what I want, but at least I'm happier then I've been since I was a careless kid.

There's no point to this story. It wasn't supposed to be profound or anything. I just started typing, and all this unnessecary nonsense came out with the stuff I originally meant to type.

As I have typed this, my birthday has ended.

I can't believe I'm fucking 27.

I feel so young, but I sound so old.

So here's what I did today:

Woke up at noon

Walked over to Ralphs and bought a six pack of Shasta cola. I know i'm pitiful

Tried to buy a can of Shasta from the machine, so I could have some change for a newspaper, but the dollar thing wasn't working, so I never got the paper

Went to Carls Jr. and got a Spicy Chicken Sandwich

Walked home and watched The Other Half, Dr. Phil, Blind Date, Lakers vs. Mavericks, Just Shoot Me, In Laws, Frasier/24.....(some reluctantly)

Talked to my girlfriend

Ate leftover meatloaf and mashed potatoes (yum)

Ate Dreyers Grand Cookie Dough ice cream

Drank Shasta Cola

Waited for my check to clear....(only about 24 more hours!!!) (that's why I bought shasta)

Came on-line and posted a boring diary entry
