2002-09-01 | YOUR DREAMS ARE YOUR TICKET OUT

It was really good to see GN'F'R at the video music awards the other night.

Especially after seeing a bunch of ungrateful teenagers with no talent walk away with awards after giving idiotic acceptance speeches.

I admit it's not the coolest thing to be a Guns N' Roses fan anymore, and Axl couldn't sing that night, but it was a real breath of fresh air to see them. It was really exciting. My eyes were very big.

You've gotta forgive Axl for not being able to sing that well. He hasn't done a live show for it must be almost ten years?

He didn't dress as lame as he used to. He was wearing some decent shorts (i think?) and an Oakland Raiders Jerry Rice jersey. (i think?) His hair was still long, but it wasn't exactly the same style as it was before. It was almost like halfway between dread locks and braids. He had good stage presence. He was doing his old dance moves. He did get out of breath from running around too much, though.

It was really great to see them. We need someone like Guns N' Roses to come back and kick these little fucking teeny boppers in the ass, and hopefully get rid of them for good.

I'm not sure who the backing band was. I didn't recognize the drummer. I don't know if it was Dizzy or Izzy, or Fizzy....but one of those was the only other original Guns N Roses member that was in the present lineup. I did recognize Buckethead! It was insane to see Buckethead at an awards show. I never thought I'd see that. I believe he was going with the "KFC" ensemble that evening. I thought one of them was Tommy Stinson, but I could be wrong. A lot of them weren't really looking at the camera. The rumored lineup I heard before was Tommy Stinson, some guy from NIN, Buckethead, and a bunch of other guys. But I know a lot of people that were reported to be a part of the new lineup have already come and gone.

Axl looked very clean, but his face was very pale, and his eyes were strange. He looked a little like an albino. Maybe it's all that time spent trying to finish (the understatement of the last decade) the long awaited album, "Chinese Democracy". He said the album would be out, but "soon" wouldn't necessarily be the correct word to use.

It just so happens that a band we need to see on MTV has already been a staple. If only MTV could get smart and start showing some other bands. Bands that have substance and talent. Queens of the Stone Age come to mind. Then again some of these bands I like to keep to myself. I don't want to see MTV all of a sudden be big fans of Q.O.T.S.A.

I wish the Police would get back together, but sadly I don't think that or Grohl, Novoselic, and somebody else will get back together. I think Janes Addiction is kind of back together. The Pixies would be another great one to come back, but I doubt it would happen. Also, Metallica needs to start putting out some music that resembles the pre-Black Album material. Shit, even some Black Album like material would be welcome at this point. The last 2 albums have sucked. The Garage Inc. thing was alright, though. Alot better then the last 2 studio albums.

You should get Spin magazines "Metal Issue". It's really fantastic.

GNR is not even one of my favorite bands of all time, but I think america needs them badly. Welcome back, fellas. Keep on rockin' in the cheese world.

Oh-old (bad) joke-- "I heard Keith Richards got back together."
