Another stupid unfinished song, or writing or something:

I listened too much when i was young

all they ever said was they were trying to help

but they never listened to my hopes and dreams

they tried to give me "guidance" (as they saw it)

but they don't always want to guide you

they have this vision of what THEY want YOU to be

but they always forget to check with YOU

and help you do what YOU want to do

in Canada, if you want to be an artist, they give you a grant

if you have big dreams where I come from, all they say is "you can't"

they laugh at you and shake their heads as if you're crazy

and they think because you hate the 9 to 5 that you're lazy

nowadays, they say I don't communicate

you tend to not want to talk to those that don't listen

they cut you off or pretend they don't hear you

and they make you feel uncomfortable every time that they're near you

people just want to talk, so they can disagree

or they misinterpret everything that you say

you want to know why I don't talk to you?

you've changed, and along the way you picked up an attitude

i look at you sometimes, and I just laugh

and wonder why you waste so much time looking angry like that

i'm afraid to speak my mind, 'cos people think I don't have one

and i can tell from their body language, that i wouldn't want to anyway

it's a shame that most people don't care

but it makes the ones that do stand out and shine

and even when you've had it with the rest of society

it's good to know there's that small percentage who understand completely

and although there are certain things that certain folks will never completely know

you always have one person who makes you feel unafraid

even if you don't want to tell them, you feel compelled to

they love you, but if you're being an ass, they will tell you
