2002-03-31 | FOR THE RECORD, IT'S BETWEEN YOU AND I

"...THE GROUCH, MADISON, and LEE. THE WINNER FOR BEST OSCAR/OSKAR IS.....

Okay, okay. I know I'm a week behind schedule, but who cares. I watched the Academy Awards last week, and was mildly entertained. I wasn't appalled. Except for the winner for best male actor in a lead performance. Let's see, a film that hasn't been nominated for any kind of award, whatsoever, except for best supporting actor, and best actor, gets the winner? C'mon now. And on the same night that Sidney Poitier, and Halle Berry won. Sidney was of course more then deserving in the lifetime achievement category, and Halle Berry was excellent in an excellent movie, but Denzel didn't deserve it. I don't even like Russel Crowe that much, think he's overrated, but he deserved it more then Washington. Denzel has had better performances that he hasn't even been nominated for.

NO I'M NOT GAY

Okay, I thought that the CIRQUE DU SOLEIL was really good. They did an excellent interpration of classic movies. I was really impressed. I would've given them a standing ovation as well.

SNUB YOU THE RIGHT WAY

Why wasn't Blackhawk Down nominated for Best Picture? Why was Memento snubbed in the major categories? Guy Pearce was better then all the actors nominated for best actor. Why wasn't Billy Bob Thornton nominated? Why wasn't the actor who played his father nominated for Best Supporting Actor? Why wasn't Ewan McGregor nominated for Best Actor? Why wasn't "I Am A Man of Constant Sorrow" nominated for best song, from O' BROTHER WHERE ART THOU? Were some of these nominated for last years last minute stuff? There's a thousand more snubs that i can't even think of right now.

WHY WASN'T JENNIFER CONNELLY'S DIALOGUE COACH NOMINATED?

Okay, A Beautiful Mind was OK, but all those awards? Garbage. More inconsistencies in a supposed "true" story. Nash's first son and the mother of that son whom he abandoned. Jennifer Connelly's character, Nash's second and current wife is from EL SALVADOR!!! Jee-zus. Russel Crowe is mad overrated, kid. But he deserved it more for this then he did for Crap-iator. That movie sucked mucho ass-o.

DON'T TELL ME JENNIFER TILLY WASN'T AVAILABLE THIS YEAR!?!

Saw the Independent Spirit Awards for the second time in 3 years, the day before the Oscars. It's so depressing. I saw 10-15 movies nominated that i was going to see that never came to my town, or were only here for one to two weeks. Man Without A Face, Waking Life, Ghost World, Anniversary Party, etc. Then I saw like 10 other movies nominated that I never even heard of that I want to see now. My life is a neverending search for movies and music. It sucks knowing what's cool sometimes.

"...but that's it."
