2002-02-24 | "YOU'RE SO COOL"
Even watching a movie like True Romance can make me get all romantic about my girlfriend. I mean it is called True Romance, but it isn't exactly all romantic, all the time. The part at the end when she keeps saying "you're so cool", that's how i feel about Stephanie. She's so cool, she's so cool, she's so cool. I was feeling like shit earlier, all depressed and stuff, because i might have car trouble, but i snapped out of it by watching the Sopranos, the end of True Romance, Home Movies ("I don't like going to the dentist, because everytime I go, my tongue gets depressed"), Malcolm in the Middle, Brak, and Sealab 2021. Plus I was thinking about all the stuff I have going for me, which is alot. I just worry alot. I want everything to be perfect. I need to just save money for awhile so i worry less. True Romance has got to be one of the best movies of the last 10 years. You may say that it's not expertly written or even acted, but it's so fucking entertaining. I don't have many complaints with it. Sizemore does kind of over-act when they're trying to do the drug bust. He's way too pumped. It's just a great movie. It's so fun to watch. Genius casting. It's just interesting to watch because of all the faces if for nothing else. One of the best ensemble casts in recent history: CHRISTIAN SLATER VAL KILMER PATRICIA ARQUETTE BRONSON PINCHOT JAMES GANDOLFINI-"I fucking barfed on the first one, can you fuckin' believe that?" DENNIS HOPPER SAMUEL L. JACKSON GARY OLDMAN-"Am I a blonde with big tits, and a perfect ass that tastes like french vanilla ice cream?...Then why are you trying to fuck me?" CHRISTOPHER WALKEN CHRIS PENN TOM SIZEMORE MICHAEL RAPPAPORT BRAD PITT-"Bring back some beer.... and some cleaning products" "Any mutha fucka don't eat pussy, is a pussy" I wish Tarrantino had got a chance to direct this movie, and not just write it. It would've been interesting to see what he came up with. You could do a million six degrees of separation scenarios just from this movie. Or you could do a six degrees of Kevin Bacon, also, seems how he was in Murder in the First with two of the actors from this movie. A bunch of these actors would work together, or had worked together previously. It's so cool to examine it in your head. I wasn't even trying that hard and I still remembered these: James Gandolfini and Brad Pitt had bit parts in this movie, but later in their careers when they got famous they starred together in The Mexican. They came a long way, baby. Gandolfinis voice in True Romance sounds so laid back and california, until he gets all mad. But nothing like his voice on the Sopranos. Christian Slater and Gary Oldman starred together in Murder In The First. It's a good fucking movie. I thought it was much better before I found out that alot of the movie version was bullshit. Apparently the Kevin Bacon character in real life was an insufferable asshole, not the least bit charming. Kind of like the movie Hurricane, which was awesome 'til i found out the dissapointing facts that they conveniently omitted from the film version of the story, which was so good in it's honest form, that it didn't need any Hollywood doctoring. But they did it anyway. Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken, and Dennis Hopper acted with another wonderful ensemble cast in Basquiat, another one of my favorites. Samuel L. Jackson and Christopher Walken were in Pulp Fiction together, but probably didn't work with each other in the true sense of the word, because they shared no screen time together. But all you Pulp Fiction maniacs, me included, already know all there is to know about that. Thanks for reading me. I had fun typing about this subject. Hopefully you love the movie like me, or you'll be completely turned off by it. Love ya, J-Med
