2002-09-14 | "WE'RE IN A TIGHT SPOT!"
i just ate a "fun size" butterfinger that was in the freezer since last halloween, and i must tell you, it was delicious. i'm not always good at analyzing things. like i can't explain to people why i love o' brother where art thou so much, or the coen brothers in general. i just do. i just understand what's going on, and i love the imagery, and i love all the actors of course. i can't necessarily put my finger on the pulse of their work, and tell you why the heart of it beats so fast. all i can tell you is that it lives inside me, and i just enjoy it. i can't explain all the metaphors in barton fink, or what it's supposed to mean, or every subtlety in the hudsucker proxy, but every coen brothers movie i've seen has left a lasting impression, and most of them are among my top 50 favorite movies of all time. i can't explain why i like THE WHO so much. i don't really understand their appeal to a wide audience in a way, just as people who aren't fans of them don't see it. seeing them perform live on tv, i could see how if you went to one of their concerts, you could leave a fan. but i guess i'm not sure how you would become a fan in the first place. they only had a couple radio hits that were super catchy. i, personally am a fan of all the songs i've heard of theirs on the radio, but i don't necessarily see why other people liked them so much. especially because alot of their music was more diverse then some of the bands that were out when they burst upon the scene. i love how they kind of invented a new sound. "maximum r&b", i have found, is a perfect name for what they did, especially because classifying with them from some other bands from that generation is unfair. I watched the concert for new york city the other day, and was pretty entertained by all the artists. but it was funny how the Who just dominated the entire evening. They were just incredible. they sounded like they were in their 20's. and they haven't even been getting along for the past how ever many years. and they haven't even played together that much over the years. if you've never seen THE WHO LIVE AT THE ISLE OF WIGHT, you must see it immediately. i also don't know why i love YES so much. i love pretty much every song they play from them on classic rock radio. except the dreadful "owner of a lonely heart", which i just loved when i was 8. damnit...i'm hearing the sea and cake right now. i'm still all broke up about not seeing them when they came down a year and a half back. i think i may be getting a cold. i hope not. my nose is all weird right now. maybe i should take a shower. i don't think i've had one in a couple days. the life of a man in between jobs, and in between residences. today i took like 3 naps, and watched baseball, and watched some of Quiz Show, and watched some of O' Brother Where Art Thou, and i watched Ebert and Roeper. They liked BARBERSHOP. I'd really like to see it. And guess what! One Hour Photo is here. So I must see it, a.s.a.p. I'd also like to see the Good Girl, because it's supposed to be good, and JAKE GYLLENHAAL is in it. I'm looking forward to Igby Goes Down, too. Looks like fun. Okay, i'm done. thanks for reading.
