2002-04-23 | (SICK &) LABOR DAYS
You notice how no one says "goodbye" anymore? They just hang up the phone, or walk away. It happens alot on tv, too. On 24, they always do it. Keifer Sutherland will be like "okay, do this, and then do that, and then make sure this gets done...." and then he'll abruptly hang up the phone. Even when i'm totally angry or sad, or in a hurry, i always have time to say "goodbye". I think people who don't have time for stuff like this are basically assholes for the most part. The kind of people who are always on edge. People that don't have time for a joke when they are busy. I always have time for a joke. Unless I hate the person telling me a joke. But if you're someone I like, I will always have time for you. I like how whenever there's a tv show or movie with teenagers, somebody tries to dress up their walls with various posters from alternative bands, or any kind of band pretty much. It's like they grab random posters from the Warner Brothers office and just put them on the wall together. Undeclared had excellent wall art. It helps that the people that made the show actually know what kids like, and what cool people like, and what lame people like. Of course that show was way too poignant to last. You see, smart, funny, interesting people could understand it, therefore it was destined for failure. The daughters house in 24 had some odd posters all in the same general space. There was the typical LINKIN PARK, GREEN DAY, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, and the completely out of place BUILT TO SPILL poster for "Ancient Melodies From the Future". Sometimes they play weird music, too. On the first episode of 24, the daughter and her friend were listening to Sublime. But it wasn't from their mainstream self-titled major label album. It was from 40 oz. to Freedom, and it was a totally unpopular song from that album. I think it was actually "Live at E's", which is more of an interlude then anything else... The best album purchase I've made recently would have to be underground rapper AESOP ROCK and his album "Labor Days". He's the most inspiring, incredible, imaginable, intelligent, exciting rapper i've heard since some of the mcs from the ANTICON camp. It says the album came out in 2001, so I'm going to have to change my top 20 albums list, and I may have to put this at number 1 for last year. It's that good. I thought he only had the one full length album, but I found one the other day, and of course I had to buy it. It's equally as good. This guy is really amazing. My friend Greg is on vacation right now. I think he's in Arkansas or something right now. That's where he's from. I'm not always the best friend to Greg. I mean I ignore him sometimes, or act embarassed at certain times, but he's probably my best friend right now, that i'm around all the time. He's such a comforting influence. I can do or say anything around him and not freak him out. We even have our own language. Seriously. I'll explain some other time. I guess I take him for granted sometimes. He's a pretty good friend to me. I mean it's weird, sometimes we only talk like once a week, but it's like if the other one wasn't around for a long time, then we'd start to miss each other. Like now, i guess. But he's not a very affectionate person. He's a little strange. I think it's the way his mom raised him. She's one of the oddest people I've ever laid eyes on. I'm worried of what will become of Greg when I move away. I think he'll come to my wedding, though. That would be nice. I'm worried about who he will hang out with when i'm not here. I don't want him hanging around with certain idiotic individuals. It's kind of unfair for me to care about who he wants to hang out with, but I don't want him to end up doing something he doesn't want to do. He's very easily influenced at times. He should be okay, but i worry. I miss being home during the day time. I was sick a couple of weeks ago, and I was loving it. I love all the cozy tv shows that come on early in the morning. I love falling in and out of consciousness while i watch the various network morning news/entertainment shows. Today has always been my favorite. I hardly even check on the other ones. You gotta love Al Roker. I like Matt Lauer alot, but unfortunately he was on vacation. He's kind of the glue that keeps that crazy caffeinated hell hole together. When he's there, things are much more in order, and much more entertaining. I also like Regis. There's just something about it. I don't really "like" it, actually. I just need it. And Kelly Ripa is a beautiful woman. I mean Kathi Lee was great looking for her age, but she had more screws loose then Marlon Brando's "LA-Z-BOY". You're going to hate me, but I also enjoy THE VIEW, and THE OTHER HALF. I don't know why I watch those either, but i can't be home and not watch it. I also like the PRICE IS RIGHT, but for some reason, I always miss the very end. I'll be tuned away for like 30 seconds, then i'll come back, and they'll be showing those super fast ads for campbells soup, etc., which means the show has just ended. At lunch time, I love PARDON THE INTERRUPTION, on ESPN. It's just two sports columnists from Washington D.C. arguing, and complaining about stuff. Sometimes they talk about non-sports stuff, which can be hilarious. That show is essential "sick day" viewing. I saw WWF superstar THE ROCK aka Duane Johnson (i think?) twice in the same day on cozy morning television. First, he was on the Today show, then to my curious delight, he was on Regis and Kelly about an hour later. He also appeared on UNSCRIPTED WITH CHRIS CONNELY two days later, which i saw later on re-run basis. Anyway, that's about it for my senseless acts of conversation for today. Talk amongst yourselves.
