2002-03-12 | My favorite quote from Young Frankenstein: "ARRGHGGHGHERRERRRGGHH!!!"

I saw one of my favorite movies in recent memory this past Saturday.

It was the wonderful "MONSTER'S BALL", starring BILLY BOB THORNTON, HALLE BERRY, HEATH LEDGER, SEAN COMBS, "RAYMONDS DAD FROM EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND", and MOS DEF. I think that's everybody of note. I might be missing somebody.

Heath Ledger was great in this movie as Thornton's son. I hope he goes in more of this direction, then the 10 things i hate about you direction.

Sean Combs is very good in a limited role. He is known better, of course, as "PUFF DADDY", or "P. DIDDY", or "PUFFY", or "HEY DIDDLE DIDDLE", or countless other names. He was very simple in this film. He seems like he can be a cool guy from time to time. His music just sucks for the most part, and he has surrounded himself with a bunch of idiots in the industry, or so it seems. He has potential to do worthwhile stuff, too, though. It's just a shame he has to do crappy stuff, too.

MOS DEF was extremely good. Especially because I didn't know he was in the movie 'til i saw his name in the credits. I had heard that he was in it, but had completely forgot by the time I went to go see it in the theatre. He was really good. He's one of the better mainstream hip hop people out there. He has some credibility. I don't like it when he gets on the soapbox on certain topics, but he's alright. I remember being irritated with him after seeing him on "POLITICALLY INCORRECT". Mos actually started out as an actor. He was in some sitcom for awhile when he was young, and a few years ago he was that guy behind the counter on a VISA commercial checking DEION SANDERS i.d. He was decent in Bamboozled, as well.

This movie is a new favorite, and I highly recommend it.

The old guy was great and convincing as the old, bitter, racist father of billy bob. I found out that he was the monster in Young Frankenstein. That makes him even more cool.

The fat kid was really good. I felt so bad for him. I could kinda relate. I was never close to that fat, but I've been scorned for being overweight a little. It's still hard for me to like be in public sometimes, and stuff. I get real self-conscious, and it feels kinda claustrophobic at times. But I'm pretty good since I got a girl. I'm pretty proud of myself, and I feel nearly indestructible.

It may sound gross to some people, but I thought the sex scene between Billy Bob and Halle was very good, and kinda sexy. It was better done then alot of other Hollywood sex scenes.

It's a great movie. go see it
