Thank goodness for "The Dollar Bin" I bought 12 cds the other day, and it came out to like 25 dollars. They were all used. 10 were 1 dollar, one was $6.95, and one was $7.95. Check out what I got: Cappadonna "The Yin and the Yang"- enjoyable, steady, consistent, not unlike the most recent Killarmy record. Killarmy still runs the table for my money. Trenchmouth "Trenchmouth vs. the Light of the Sun"- Highly underrated band who had to break up, because you fools couldn't get off your ass and buy their albums. They're really good. I like it alot. It has alot of energy, and is very unique, although I do hear a pinch of Fugazi influence in it. Love the singers voice, and the music is very yummy. Highly recommended Kid With Man Head "Flapjack Hairpiece"- Highly enjoyable pop-punk with humor and lots of potential and up-side. One of the best album covers of all time, a fucking hilarious, great sounding, genius, great titled song called "Cheese Grate Your Face", and an energetic, stellar cover of "Hotel California". Recommended Mind Science of the Mind- Un fucking believable. A side project of Nathan Larsons back when he was in a band. Now he married the cardigans chick and i don't know what he's going to do now, musically. This album is great. I really enjoyed it. The echoey stuff sounds kinda like John Lennon, or like Robert Plant on his slow songs, and with the Honeydrippers. And it sounds hauntingly like Jeff Buckley at times. One song has got to be him. It's just uncanny. And he did collaborate with them on the First Love, Last Rites soundtrack (right?). But he's not credited in the album notes, that i could find. Or was Buckley dead by then? I'm so confused. I must research this matter thoroughly. I recommend this if you like slow, mellow stuff, although it's not all like that. Extremely recommended aMiniature- "Murk Time Cruiser" Loved their first album way back when, wanted to get this one, never did. Found it for 1 dollar. Couldn't believe it. Hope it doesn't suck. I used to love them. Thought they would blow up a little. Never did. Haven't listened to it yet. fluf "Mangravy" -Had this a long time ago, but sold it before i got a chance to get to know it. Figured I could shell out the one dollar for it at present time. I remember the cover of "redemption song" being pretty ok. Bran Van 3000 "Glee"-They had a goofy video, and some people dissed them, but I was always kind of intrigued, but didn't want to spend 15 dollars. Luckily I found this one dollar promo copy. Havent' listened to it yet, but the guys in Flipside gave it some good reviews, and said they were awesome live. Overwhelming Colorfast-one of those bands that was supposed to be super big. I had another album of theirs that i liked alot. They had alot of potential. i think they may still be going. They're pretty awesome from what i've heard. Haven't heard this album yet, though the Technical Jed- Have wanted this for a long time. I remember reading about it alot, and being really into SpinArt records for awhile. I think this is a promo because some asshole has marked his 3 favorite tracks all over the booklet and on the cd and stuff. But hey, it was a dollar right? Kepone "Ugly Dance"-This looks like a more low budget release, but I've heard great things about this band in the past. Alot of people called them the next big thing or whatever. I'll have to listen and let you know. Quarterstick has some decent releases. Mark Lanegan "the Winding Sheet"-if you don't know about the lanegan, you should. He's incredible. I like the Screaming Trees and his solo work alot. This, of course, had some Cobain on it, so that's always nice. And the great "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" cover is always nice. Mark Lanegan is always recommended, so get it already. He's so underrated, and unjustly unknown Kemuri-Japanese ska. fun. i think. haven't listened to it yet. one dollar. i love the sound of one dollar.
