2001-09-22 | PAY TO CUM (CLEAN)

THESE ARE SOME OF MY GUILTY PLEASURES:

NSYNC-they are the least irritating of all the boy/girl groups. and they're the most laid back. they don't take themselves as seriously. they still kinda suck, though. just like the rest.

KD LANG-i don't like female vocalists usually, but something about k.d. does it for me. her lyrics are very heartfelt. her music is real, and passionate. i love the moods of her albums.

SLIPKNOT-there's certain times when you just need it loud and angry.....even if it's a joke. so is it a joke or what? i don't care. i like it

MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE-i don't know....i think these guys are unbelievable. for some reason they get compared to groups like insane clown posse who used to kind of be a guilty pleasure, but i kind of hate them now. they have a hell of alot more talent then most of the "parody" bands. i don't consider MSI to be a parody band. i think they just flat out rock.

BASEMENT JAXX-if you don't mind the cheesy female vocals...which i can barely stand...their beats are unbeleivable. and the music puts you in a pretty good mood. sometimes you need that.

BOB SEGER-whether you love him or hate him, "turn the page" is a great song. the substance he showed on that song alone gives him a place in music history.

STINGS SOLO STUFF-i didn't like the last album that much, but i thought mercury falling was a very underrated album. i sure wish the POLICE would've got back together again, though.

HOT BOYZ/BIG TYMERS/CASH MONEY MILLIONARES-i love the beats and the hard to understand lyrics. i like mannie fresh. he seems like he'd be fun to hang out with. he has the nicest smile in hip-hop. i wonder if he's really nice, or if he just smiles alot.

NAUGHTY BY NATURE FEAT. SILKK,MASTER P.,AND MYSTIKAL-"live or die"-usually the no-limit soldiers suck...they have potential, but they can't put it together. on this song silkk the shocker flows well, and mystikal just attacks the mic amazingly. he should always have this much energy, and it should always sound this genuine. silkk and mystikal should've worked together more, too. started their own group. they compliment each other well on this tune.

JETHRO TULL-i've just always liked them. except sometimes i hate the song 'aqualung'.

BEACH BOYS-pet sounds is a good album, and good vibrations is a good, cheesy song.

BLOODHOUND GANG-another "parody" band who i think is pretty awesome. they make me laugh. and they're pretty energetic live. and their drummer is like ten years old.

STAIND-never thought i'd like this band. hated that 'dysfunctional' album. they're just too good, and catchy to ignore. his songwriting is very believable. they don't seem to pretentious. they do act a little too depressed at times. funny quote from spin....something about "how many people find 'staind' to be a strange title for a singer, songwriter?"

BLUES TRAVELER-john popper is hyper, and a dork, but i find him likeable. i'd like to hang with him. he lost a lot of weight. hope he didn't lose his personality. four was a pretty decent album. i liked the hits. i don't know about the rest of their material. haven't really heard it.

LIVE-although they suck now...i enjoyed alot of their older stuff. secret samadhi had a couple songs that really stuck with me. that new song they have is just hideous. i used to hate "rattlesnake" but i like the lyrics to it now. kind of tongue in cheek. dry humor.

HUI ALOHA-most people who heard this would scoff at it as some stupid, pussy, world music. i love the substance of it. traditional hawaiian music is very artsy and reminiscent of some of the buena vista social club kinda stuff. the music itself is very thought provoking and emotional. the singing compliments it well.

BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB

CHEMICAL BROTHERS-sure they tried to rip off the DUST BROTHERS, and sure a couple of their songs are cheesy, but i sure like most of the songs off the last two albums. and i thought they were awesome live. it's hard not to be awesome live when most of your material is pre-recorded, but they are still pretty exciting.

LES RHYTHMES DIGITALES-cool hip-hop influenced techno with an english dj pretending to be french. alot of my friends would hate this.

COLDPLAY-sure the lead singer might be an ass, and alot of their songs are basic, but i like them dammit. some of their songs go right along with what has happened in my life. those are the best songs anyway, right?

D-NICE/NICE AND SMOOTH-ultra cheesy late 80's hip hop with genius sampling done just in the nick of time before sampling was made more difficult.

STEVE EARLE-what country should sound like

DOOBIE BROTHERS-some of their songs suck, but some are classic. listen to the music and blackwater are near perfect songs. and MICHEAL MCDONALD is my hero

RUSH-when are people going to stop talking shit about rush. even if you hate them you can respect geddys bass lines and neils drumming. you don't know what you're missin' y'all.

TYPE O NEGATIVE-funny goth. great music and lyrics at times. wonderfully cheesy at others. peter steele is a funny man. he scares me.

ENYA-sorry. fun to makeout to, and go to sleep to

HATEBREED-i say guilty pleasure now, because suddenly they're on ozzfest. they used to be more underground. sometimes i need this loud aggresive music.

FOO FIGHTERS-i liked them before i knew they would be pop stars and dave grohl would get more weird by the year. taylor hawkins is a schmuck too, sometimes. can't ignore the lineage to nirvana and the indie cred they got when the guy from no use for a name joined the band. whatever

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS-core, and tiny music...songs from the vatican gift shop were very memorable albums for me. i don't know about the recent stuff

STEELY DAN-my girlfriend hates them. that's one of the few things we can't agree on. something about them just makes me smile. some of their songs are just perfect. they don't have many songs that i hate. too bad donald fagen seems like a motherfucker.

PANTERA-i will always have a place in my heart for these white trash suckas. it may be cheesy to the rest of you, but i saw them in concert and caught the drumstick. how can i not be loyal now?

NELLY FURTADO-i just love watching her. i'm in awe of her mouth. i don't like what comes out of it sometimes, but....she's beautiful. what she did with missy is nearly inexcusable. yuck. disgusting. don't freesytle nelly. please don't do it. as for the "other" nelly. don't even get me started with that shit. "eeeeyah" shut the fuck up.

3RD EYE BLIND-stephan jenkins is an asshole and an idiot. great combination. what was charlize thinking? i do like some of the songs from the first album that my friend put on a mix-tape for me, though, i have to admit it.
